Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 February 2026  ·  Governed by Australian Privacy Act 1988

1. Who We Are

Tyre Trawler ("we", "us", "our") operates tyretrawler.com.au — an Australian tyre price comparison service. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following personal information:

  • Booking enquiries: Name, email address, mobile phone number, preferred appointment date, and any message you submit when requesting a fitting from a fitment centre.
  • Search activity: Tyre sizes and vehicle selections you search for (used only to provide results and improve the service — not linked to your identity).
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, and pages visited — collected automatically for security and analytics via standard server logs.

We do not collect payment card details — all purchases happen directly on the retailer's website.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To forward your fitting enquiry to the fitment centre you selected.
  • To send you a confirmation email with your enquiry reference number.
  • To improve search results, product rankings, and site performance.
  • To investigate security incidents or misuse of the service.
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

We will not use your personal information for direct marketing without your explicit consent.

4. Disclosure to Third Parties

We share your information only where necessary:

  • Fitment centres: When you submit a booking enquiry, your contact details are sent to the fitment centre you selected so they can confirm availability.
  • Google Maps Platform: If you use the “near me” feature, your location (postcode or GPS coordinates) is sent to Google to find nearby fitment centres. Governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • eBay Partner Network & Commission Factory: Affiliate tracking links — no personal information is shared, only click/transaction identifiers for commission attribution.
  • Hosting & infrastructure: Our hosting provider (Vercel) processes data in the US under standard contractual clauses. Vercel does not sell or share your data.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

5. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies for session management and basic analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or behavioural tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some features (such as saving search preferences) may not work without them.

6. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+). Booking enquiry data is not stored permanently on our servers — it is forwarded to the fitment centre and then discarded. We retain server access logs for up to 90 days for security purposes.

7. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or out-of-date information.
  • Request that we delete information we hold about you (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Complain about how we handle your information.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@tyretrawler.com.au. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of tyretrawler.com.au after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
